The Tennessee Highway Patrol and law enforcement statewide continue the search for two black men involved in an shooting of a Cookeville-based Highway Patrol officer Friday night.
The Patrol identified Braze Rucker as the passenger in the vehicle overnight. He is considered armed and dangerous. The car involved in the incident was found along Highway 109 in Sumner County after midnight.
The incident happened after 8pm Friday night at the foot of the Highway 111 Exit of Cookeville’s I-40 eastbound. Body camera photos show the vehicle stopped and the patrol officer approaching the right side of the vehicle. No other information has been released.
According to earlier information, both Rucker and the driver have facial tattoos.
The Highway Patrol officer is a Cookeville-based officer. The trooper was treated at Cookeville Regional, and then airlifted to Nashville, with the latest status of stable condition.
A reward is being offered for information on the two suspects.
