West Overton Utility District will consider bids for three Rickman water line projects at the district’s December 17th board meeting.
West Overton Utility District General Manager Tyler Copeland said the projects consist of about a mile of waterline extension on Bethlehem Road between Highway 42 and Bilbrey Road. A second project will upgrade some 15,030 feet of lines on Dry Hollow Road. The final project upgrades a water line for a subdivision at Meadowbrook Circle. Copeland said the Meadowbrook water line upgrade consists of implementing a six-inch water line to resolve leaking issues the area has experienced.
“Some of the lines through there is a four-inch line and some of it was a two-inch line,” Copeland said. “It seems like about at least once a month or two times a month we have to go out there and fix it. It was just an old line and just needed to be upgraded.”
Copeland said the waterline extension projects will be four-inch water lines. Copeland said the extension projects will provide city water access to new areas.
“There is no city water that has been out there and the residents have been asking for years,” Copeland said. “I don’t know how many years they have been asking to upgrade the line and it’s just not been feasible for us to do it just for the cost and everything.”
Copeland said the utility district can now do these projects as they received a large ARP grant to fund the projects. Copeland said the projects have already received multiple bids.
“There were at least five bids for each project,” Copeland said. “There was a good group of people that came out and it seemed like we had a good turnout.”
Copeland said he is confident that the board will approve bids for the projects at the next meeting. Copeland said the goal is to have all three projects completed by next December.
