A local job expert said the Upper Cumberland job market looks promising for the year ahead.
Workforce Connections Assistant Director Jeremiah Miller said several areas in the Upper Cumberland are not only seeing more people moving to the area but also more businesses. Miller said most companies are looking to invest in their workers and a growth in apprenticeships has continued in our area.
“We just keep continuously seeing growth across the region as a whole,” Miller said. “Specifically in key areas like manufacturing, healthcare, and retail. It’s been a really exciting time.”
Miller said manufacturing and healthcare are two industries that are growing the fastest in the Upper Cumberland. Miller said healthcare has a major need for workers currently and only expects that need to grow even more in 2025.
“As the baby boom generation continues to get older there is more need for healthcare and as our region grows there is going to be a continuous need for healthcare,” Miller said.
Miller said public entities working with municipalities have made the Upper Cumberland an attractive area for several new companies.
“There’s been a lot of effort from many different partners and chambers and so forth and so on that has just done a great job at attracting new companies to come to our area,” Miller said.
Miller said in our region a good portion of people struggle with finding reliable transportation or affordable child care. Miller said Workforce Connections is continuing to offer programs to help residents overcome obstacles when it comes to finding employment.
