Van Buren Girls Face Top 5 Showdown

The Van Buren Lady Eagles fly to Moore County Tuesday night for a top five showdown.

Van Buren hopes to improve their win streak to six this season in their first of three games this week. They match up against a Moore County team who gave Van Buren their last loss on January 28th. Van Buren Head Coach Tyler Sapp said a talking point for his team after their game Friday night was matching teams and their physicality.

“The little things is what lost us that game.” Sapp said regarding the January 28th game. “Taking care of the ball. They had quite a few points off turnovers, they had quite a few second chance points, and, you know, those things add up when they continue to happen and being mentally tough and physically tougher. That’s the things we’ve been talking about after that loss to Moore County because they played a lot tougher than we did that night and that ended up being the difference in the game.”

The showdown remains pivotal for both teams as they begin to tune up for next week’s regional tournament action. Moore County enters play 21-3, currently on a ten game winning streak.
