Overton Gets Requested Third Virtual Day For Friday

Overton County Schools requested an additional virtual weather day from the state and received that request for Friday.

Director Of Schools Donnie Holman said the state granted a third virtual day. All systems were given two days by the State Department of Education to use when regular snow/weather days ran out. Overton, like many systems in the Upper Cumberland, struggled to reopen during the snow and extreme cold in January.

Schools will be closed Friday with virtual instruction taking place.

Temperatures Friday morning forecast to be in the single digits with refreezing likely from Thursday morning’s snow. Many secondary roads likely will not improve until temperatures get above freezing Friday afternoon into Saturday.
