TCAT Upper Cumberland helping veterans go back to school by offering special veteran tours.
Military Affairs Coordinator Bill Bruce said the special dedicated tours allow military veterans to tour the campus and check out all of the 17 programs the school offers.
“Some of them, this is their first step out of the military,” Bruce said. “Others they have been out for a few years and want a change and create a different career for their life.”
Bruce said during the tours, the school goes over the military benefits that veterans receive. Bruce said the school offers veteran tours once a month to provide veterans every opportunity to go to school.
The next veteran tour TCAT Upper Cumberland will offer is Thursday, March 13 at 8:30am.
“We try to insure that anybody that might be released from the military or people that are moving in,” Bruce said. “We have continuous enrollment here at TCA, so we don’t want to miss out on an opportunity to be able to fill what we call fill a spot. We just want to make sure that they know what’s available here.”
Bruce said TCAT Upper Cumberland values veterans for their service. Bruce said veterans actually are a benefit to the school.
“We think the veterans give some leadership in the programs,” Bruce said. “Especially if they are going into a field that they were trained in while they were in the military and they can really help our instructors be able to give leadership and be able to demonstrate different aspects of the program as they go through them.”
Bruce said he encourages every local veteran who is interested in attending school to visit the school during a veteran tour.
