Cumberland County Lady Jets basketball player Kaedinse (kay-dense) Wilson looks to continue to add to her championship history this season.
Wilson played basketball starting at Martin Elementary School. She would go on to help her team win the state championship in her last year. Wilson said she has enjoyed the transition to high school basketball, even if at times it became difficult.
“I’ve enjoyed my time here,” Wilson said. “It’s definitely a lot different. It’s a big leap from Martin [Elementary] to high school. It was a very big leap my freshman year but I’ve enjoyed it so far.”
Wilson played point guard for Martin during their championship run. Wilson said that team stood out in many ways.
“I think we were really close knit and we all worked really, really well together and we practiced a lot and eventually made a really good team,” Wilson said.
Wilson remains at point guard for the Lady Jets. Wilson said being a point guard brings a new dynamic to the table.
“It’s like a leadership role,” Wilson said. “I think I definitely have to step up if I want to take that role.”
Wilson split minutes during her freshman and sophomore years. Wilson will now lead the charge this season for the first time since winning the state title at Martin Elementary.
