Cumberland's Christopher Looking to Attack Junior Year

Cumberland County boys basketball player Jake Christopher is hoping to take his game to a new level this season.

Christopher plays power forward and center for the Jets. He averaged career highs in points and rebounds last season. Christopher said he has one major box he looks to check off next season.

“I’m looking to get my first dunk,” Christopher said. “I want it bad. That’s where the physical part comes in but I want to be mentally prepared for, to be able to dunk on someone. I want to be that excitement in the gym.”

Christopher said he has increased his vertical by nine inches since basketball season ended. Jake will enter his junior year at Cumberland County next season. Christopher said if he had to choose, he would prefer to dunk first in the summer.

“I like that, coming in confidence, knowing I can [dunk] in the summer,” Christopher said.

Christopher said he prides himself on a particular side of the basketball court.

“I’m more of a mental, not physical person, so I’d rather be a stick figure out there and be tall and have like, I’d rather be having a good mindset than not,” Christopher said.

Christopher said he looks to average ten points and ten rebounds next season. Jake had a career high eight offensive rebounds in one game last season. Christopher said rebounding is his favorite part about basketball.
