Cumberland's Repasky Seeing Position Battles Continue

Cumberland County Jets football head coach Noah Repasky said he will see some starters emerge quickly as the team prepares for its first game of the season.

Receivers and secondary make up most of the position battles for the Jets. The battles also continue at linebacker, safety, and kicker. Repasky said he believes in the depth at each position.

“They all bring in value to our team and a plus so we just got to put the kids in a nice spot and get them to do what they can for us,” Repasky said. “We’re still looking for linemen to step up and help our two way guys so they get some breaks especially early in the year.”

Cumberland County played in two scrimmages, Sweetwater and Rhea County, to compete against different opponents. Repasky said during that time is when he sees the most growth every season.

“I told our guys it’s going to be a team that is inexperienced but we’re going to get better as we go,” Repasky said. “The kids are gonna hustle. They’re gonna play hard and play well just like they always do.”

The Jets will play their only Thursday night game of the season in Week 1. Cumberland County will face the Livingston Wildcats. Repasky said his team is as healthy now as when they started winter practice.

“It’s always good,” Repasky said. “People are excited to get some more fans in different areas. They want to get some high school football started.”

The Jets will see 50 kids on the sidelines when the teams take the field. 35 of the 50 players enter the season as freshmen and sophomores.
