Upperman Lady Bees volleyball head coach Tori Permenter said she enters the new season with a renewed mindset and a relentless work ethic
Permenter takes over the program after previously working at Stone Memorial. Permenter said her squad is focused on finding its identity and building confidence one match at a time. Permenter said she realized what she needed to do when taking over as head coach.
“I think just hitting the reset button,” Permenter said. “Reset, let’s find who we are, let’s find our culture, our mindset, and really these girls have just given their all for me and I just couldn’t ask anything more for them.”
Upperman has already logged several matches early in the season. The Bees started August with an 8-2 record. Permenter said she believes each performance is helping the team gain momentum.
“We’re attacking this season head on,” Permenter said. “We’re really excited that it’s started now. We got some matches under our belts. They’re getting some confidence with every match and I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
Permenter returns most of the Bees team this season. Upperman saw Stone Memorial sweep the Bees in both contests last season. Upperman said the team has embraced the improved work ethic wholeheartedly.
“We’re going to outwork everybody,” Permenter said. “That’s the goal. That’s what I tell the girls every single game. So far it’s really paying off.”
Permenter enters her eighth season coaching volleyball. She will coach against Stone Memorial for the first time on September 4th.
