Week 3 HS Football Sees Games Beyond Upper Cumberland


The first week of September sees high school football enter Week 3. All Upper Cumberland teams are in action as some teams look to take the next steps.

Upperman plays their home opener Thursday night against Farragut. Upperman enters 1-1 having amassed pver 700 total yards combined in their first two games. Farragut enters play 0-2.

Stone Memorial battles Cumberland County on Thursday night. Stone Memorial has started their season 2-0 after coming back down 23 points at the half to defeat Coalfield last week. Cumberland County looks for their first win of the season after losing by one score to Monterey on the road.

DeKalb County travels to Watertown. DeKalb fell one score short of defeating White House last week at home and looks to remain undefeated on the road. Watertown enters play 0-2.

Jackson County faces Clay County. The Blue Devils start their season 2-0 having scored 80 points over their first two games. Clay County heads back home after scoring a game winning touchdown with less than a minute left to defeat Smith County.

Pickett County travels to Cannon County. Pickett looks for their first win of the season after falling to Sunbright last week. Cannon County comes back home 1-1, with their only win against Monterey in Week 1.

York hosts Meigs. York looks for their first win of the season after falling at home against White County. Meigs enters play 1-1.

Monterey hosts Scott County. Monterey got in the win column for the first time after a home win against Cumberland County. Scott County won its only game of the season on Week 1.

Warren County heads to Hunter’s Lane. Warren County lost to Livingston last week 38-3 and looks for their first win on the road in almost two seasons. Hunter’s Lane enters play 0-2.

Cookeville heads to Sparta to face White County. Both teams combined for over 600 yards running the ball last season. Cookeville enters play 0-2 after falling to Franklin Road Academy, while the Warriors enter play 1-1 after having defeated York.

Livingston will travel to face Smith County. Livingston leads all Upper Cumberland teams in points scored through two games, putting up 85 points in their two wins. Smith County enters play 1-1.
