Jackson County's Bryant Building Toughness In Season

Jackson County Blue Devils Girls Soccer Head Coach Jordan Bryant maximized time over the summer using practice time to look for similar results on the pitch.

Jackson County spent their off-season practicing across different schools. In July, the Blue Devils went to Macon County with heat indexes approaching 100 degrees. The camp marked one of several camps the Blue Devils participated in. Bryant said he would see the girls return from camps with new approaches.

“They learn things from different coaches,” Bryant said. “They bring things back that maybe we haven’t done before as far as drills go and they learn things and even some of them they go, hey let’s do this that we learn at camp so that’s good to see.”

Bryant returned most of the Blue Devils girls soccer team heading into this season. Bryant returned 23 total players from last season, including six seniors. Bryant has coached the six seniors since their seventh grade year.

“We can tell things with them,” Bryant said. “If they’re struggling in certain areas or they’re doing great, but they just have a great way about them as far as where I’ve been around them and getting to be with them, it’s been great.”

Bryant saw the Blue Devils reach a program high in wins last season. Bryant said the expectations set by the team gave him and the coaching staff an idea of what to expect this season.

“They set a goal as far as they wanted to compete for a district title and that was something they set their mind to,” Bryant said. “Same way with this group. We always tell them that’s the goal and they had that in mind and that worked for them.”

Jackson County stands with a record of 2-4-1. The Blue Devils next play on Thursday against Upperman.
