Historic Hotel Gainesboro Moving Toward Next Steps

Demolition on the Shamrock Hotel in Gainesboro begins In the next week to ten days as the new hotel project progresses further.

Marc Stengel said his team plans to have construction drawings by the end of the year. Stengel said his goal is to finish the demolition of the interior by November.

“I’ve already demolished in February and March of this year 50 percent of the unoccupied space of this building,” Stengel said. “There was some commercial and retail sentence that I had to leave and now we are ready to finish that part of the job.”

Stengel said the plan for this project is to cooperate with the town and stimulate growth within the Upper Cumberland community. Stengel said the town people and officials have demonstrated support through this process.

“There’s going to be as many as 25, 35, 50 subcontractors on the job when things get underway,” Stengel said. “As far as for when the hotel is in operation I will anticipate a prominent staff of about maybe 8-10 people and maybe an auxiliary staff.”

Stengel hopes to attract tourists dollars to Gainesboro with the new boutique hotel.

“(We have) a very involved and detailed branding and marketing campaign for both the town and the county, and really the Upper Cumberland region in general,” Stengel said. “And were hopefully going to have a large body of work to cut in and encourage people to take advantage of this tourist destination.”
