Overton County Authorities have confirmed that a house fire in the Rickman community on Tuesday has taken the life of a three-year-old child.
The fire took place at 924 Rickman Monterey Highway. Overton County E-911 Director Chris Masiongale said the three-year-old was rescued and transferred to Cookeville Regional Medical Center, but would later succumb to smoke inhalation.
A mother and an infant child were transported to Vanderbilt for further medical care and are in stable condition. A police officer and firefighter are also being treated for smoke inhalation.
The extent or the cause of the fire is still unknown at this time and is under investigation. There is no other information to report at this time.
