Livingston Fountain Serves As Memorial For Local Soldiers

The City of Livingston rededicating the square’s Memorial Fountain to two fallen soldiers, with both families involved in changes to the fountains.

Kelly Coleman said the fountain honors soldiers Brad McCormick and Jeremiah Savage. Coleman said he met with the Savage and McCormick families, agreeing they deserved a better quality memorial. Coleman said the fountain renovation should involve them, as the memorial is dedicated to their family.

“Lit up at night, I mean, I had to park and get out and take a video and hear the water,” McCormick said. “It’s so calming and peaceful” McCormick said. “Jere’s at Arlington [National Cemetery], I can’t go see him. I can’t go see him there, but I can see him here.”

Coleman said Eva Savage and Gayle McCormick permitted the project, selecting the produced end product from three designs.

McCormick said the previous night a friend had sent her a photo of the finished fountain, lit by the square lights.

“In the beautiful square, and she said it looks like from a Hallmark movie, of a little town” McCormick said. “I said it definitely does. Gorgeous. And we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Beautiful.”

Coleman said he appreciated the trust the the families stowed in him to refurbish the fountain, thanking them for the work they contributed toward the project.

“When people remember him and honor him it heals a little piece of my heart,” Coleman said. “So this is all for you ladies and Mr. McCormick, the father of one of our fallen.”

Coleman led everyone in a group prayer, as all participants locked hands while surrounding the fountain.
