White County Storage Unit Project Faces New Delays

No clear timeline exists to create more storage for the White County Clerk’s office.

Circuit Court Clerk Beverly Jolley said the project faces issues, as uncertainty around the building location and communication are delaying progress. Jolley said contractors changed plans on the location of a storage building, deciding against attaching the building to the existing structure. Jolley said the contractors will place the building on another area of the lot.

“I’m out of space in the office, basically and I have nowhere to put them,” Jolley said. “So, yeah it gets frustrating because our work does not slow down.”

Jolley said the project will allow the newest files to be prioritized, as there are a plethora of civil, criminal and circuit cases taking up the current shelf space.

Jolley said the project has evolved over time, going through multiple committees and being approved.

“It’s just a process, like everything else is, you know, when you’re trying to get something,” Jolley said.

Jolley said the building will have shelves made for all of the boxes for storage and easy access. Jolley said once the building is finished she plans on moving items from her office, organizing the items into sections.

“This is something that we’ve dealt with ever since that I’ve been in office,” Jolley said. “We have been out of space basically from the time that they moved from the court house over here to this building we were out of room. Okay, so this is something that we’ve dealt with for years.”
