A Cookeville High School media class produced a new video for the PEP Foundation, helping raise funds through its Snow Day Explainer.
Cav Connect TV Executive Producer Creed Hardison said the foundation reached out to the class requesting help. Hardison said the collaboration benefits both parties, helping students gain experience through filming and editing a video project, while creating promotional content for the fundraiser.
“They worked along side us, and if we need resources, they can occasionally give us small things, small opportunities like this,” Hardison said. “Cause this is good experience for all the students, including me, in the class to get to work on a production like this. To get to make videos like this, it’s a great experience.”
Putnam County Director of Schools Corby King appears in the video. The PEP Foundation selling “Lucky Snow Day Mugs,” painted with a portrait of King making a snow day announcement.
Hardison said he learned more about what the foundation does for children in the community through this project, like providing children food and supplies. Hardison said he wanted to support the foundation and educate people on how snow days operate.
“I think everybody should donate, big or small, to this PEP Foundation, especially if you are a member of the school system or support the school system,” Hardison said. “It’s just an invaluable experience to see what this fund, these funds, can do to help students in our community.”
Hardison said the video took five hours total to produce. Hardison said the class spent three hours filming and two hours editing. Hardison said he learned useful skills from the experience.
“We just love to help out this PEP foundation, they just do great things in our school community and our school system communities,” Hardison said. “So we knew this was something we definitely wanted to have our logo on and help benefit this foundation.”
Hardison said the the audio visual production class has worked with the PEP Foundation in the past, creating a video showing the ways the foundation benefits the community.
