The Sparta-White County Chamber of Commerce is seeking applicants to fill out this year’s Chamber Ambassador Program.
Chamber Executive Director Brent Young said in the year-long program, participants will recruit and retain chamber members, attend chamber events, connect with local business owners, and represent the chamber in a positive light. Young said ambassadors play a key role for the chamber.
“We need ambassadors on the ground helping them, having that open line of communication, which our chamber does, but also to have another set of eyes that is able to do that with us to see the wants and needs of our community businesses and be able to address them.”
Young said the application period is open throughout January. Young said he hopes some people will step up to the plate this year by participating.
“It was something that was imperative that we needed to have more folks in attendance at different events and support of the local businesses here,” Young said. “They are a huge part of the success of our organization.”
Young said the program is a great opportunity for locals to get involved and serve their community. Young said the program is made for those who are good with relationships and networking.
“You know I always say I’ve got a guy just because I network so much,” Young said. “You know, if someone comes to me and says, ‘hey Brent, I need a plumber.’ You know what, I’ve got a guy because I network so much. The same thing applies. The ambassadors always have people there that can connect with our local businesses to help achieve whatever goals they have.”
Young said applicants need to be dedicated, as participants meet once a month for a whole year and will also be asked to attend different ribbon cuttings and events. Young said the chamber hopes to have 12 participants in this year’s program.
Young said applicants can call the chamber or apply online. Young said the chamber will host the Ambassador Orientation meeting on February 25.
