Overton County is taking action to address the issues with the doors at the County Services Building.
An agenda item during Monday’s Commission meeting under old and new business noted a discussion about the county service building doors. Commissioner Darwin Clark sponsored the item. Overton County Executive Steven Barlow said the agenda item could not be discussed during the meeting.
“We don’t have old or new business on the agenda, on the commission meetings,” Barlow said. “It’s on here because somebody put it on here.”
Barlow said old and new business items can be brought up for discussion outside of commission meetings. Clark, in response to Barlow, said he asked for it to be on the agenda, but said he was not going to talk about the doors after working it out with Barlow ahead of the meeting.
Some county officials have had trouble entering the county services building before and after operating hours.
“I wasn’t going to talk about this because the county officials said that you have sent the person who’s doing the doors to talk to them, and you assured them that you are gonna fix it where they can get into their office and have their office open at 7:00 if they so choose to,” Clark said. “So we have had old business on there in the past, but you know, I’m hoping that this issue has been resolved, and according [to them] they feel like it has, so we will see what happens in the next few weeks.”
