Adcock’s Cheer Journey Continues At Jackson County

When the Jackson County Blue Devils take the floor or run onto the field, Ella Adcock is never far behind, leading the charge with a voice and confidence that did not always come naturally.

Now a four-year cheerleader for Jackson County, Adcock has spent her high school career supporting both the Blue Devils’ football and basketball teams, turning what began as a leap of faith into a defining chapter of her life.

“I think you definitely learn how to like be more yourself and how to get more out there,” Adcock said. “I know before, I was very introverted and nervous and shy all the time but cheer really helped me to grow and be more confident for who I am as a person and I think that’s such a great quality to have.

Adcock said her journey into cheer did not start with a lifelong dream. It started with a best friend.

“She was trying to get me into it because she loved it and she thought it was something that could really help and she found it as something I could find really fun.” Adcock said.

That encouragement sparked a partnership that still stands today, with both friends remaining part of the Blue Devils cheer squad. Over the years, Adcock said she has found joy not only in performing on game nights, but in everything that happens behind the scenes.

Adcock said basketball season offers her and the team even more chances to perform, thanks to the steady rhythm of games. But it is the practices, the preparation, and the moments watching others grow that have left the deepest impression.

What started as a way to step out of her comfort zone has become a lesson in confidence, leadership, and connection. Adcock said cheerleading has been about more than chants and routines. It has been about discovering who she is.

“I think this is such a special thing that people get to be a part of,” Adcock said. “It really can teach you so much.”

As her time with the Blue Devils continues, Adcock said she hopes the lessons learned on the sidelines and center court will follow her long after the final cheer.
