An Overton County Grand Jury has indicted a suspect on two counts of first-degree murder following a double homicide in Rickman last September.
27-year-old Payton Wayne Nations indicted for the shooting deaths of 43-year-old Christina Denise Hawkins and 25-year-old Isaiah Thomas Hawkins. The Grand Jury returned a true bill of indictment against the suspect.
Nations was identified as the suspect in the pair’s death, and a manhunt ensued across multiple counties before concluding in Putnam County where Nations was arrested by a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper.
The two found shot to death outside a home in Rickman on September 21, 2025.
Nations is set to be arraigned on his charges on February 23.
