A major 12-inch waterline broke Sunday morning, affecting Monterey water customers.
The line serves the city limits as well as some customers north on Highway 164. Town officials said that includes some customers of the East Fork Utility District.
It will take an estimated six to eight hours to repair the line. If you are without water, you will want to make other provisions for the day including bottled water.
Once water service returns, all affected customers will be under a Boil Water Advisory. This precautionary measure means all water to be used for eating or drinking should be brought to a rolling boil first and then cooled for consumption.
State officials will be testing the water samples once water is restored, letting you know when the Boil Water Advisory is lifted.
