Cookeville Regional Partnership Brings Outpatient Telepsychiatry

Cookeville Regional Medical Center has partnered to offer outpatient telepsychiatry services to patients in the Upper Cumberland.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Bruce Johnson announced the addition of the new service which will be located in the Professional Office Building on the main campus. This partnership aims to provide appointment access to board-certified psychiatrists via telehealth visits.

“We are excited to bring much-needed psychiatry services to CRMC,” Johnson said. “There continues to be a physician shortage, and that is true of the psychiatrist specialists as well.”

QLER Telepsychiatry is a physician-owned and Joint Commission accredited organization. The group partners with regional and community hospital systems to address challenges regarding access to timely psychiatric care.

“Partnerships are extremely important as we work to meet the healthcare needs of our community,” Johnson said. “We will begin seeing patients through the outpatient telepsychiatry service part-time with the goal to grow to a full-time service.”

Dr. Jeffrey F. Liubicich has joined the medical staff as the first board-certified psychiatrist for the team. He brings extensive experience in providing mental health services through telemedicine and is proficient in English and Spanish.

Liubicich earned his Doctor of Medicine from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in June 2014. He completed his General Psychiatry Residency at West Virginia University in June 2019, where he received the WVU Psychiatry Academic Award.
