Baxter Wastewater Upgrade Done, Final Documents Next

The Baxter Wastewater Treatment Plant project officially complete following years of construction.

Engineer Tom Bennett updated Aldermen on the final pieces of the major infrastructure improvements. Bennett said the completion allows the city to finalize closeout documents.

“I was looking back since, I think, ’21,” the official said. “So that’s a long-term project that has come to a close.”

Bennett said the milestone shifts the focus to maintaining the new improvements and the warranty period.

“The warranty period starts,” Bennett said. “There’s obviously going to be some things that come up during the warranty period, seeding and things that were done in the winter that will have to be revamped.”

The financial status of the project was also reviewed during the meeting. Officials identified a potential equipment purchase that could be made before the final accounting is settled.

“There are some additional funds remaining in the project, and so Tommy’s looking at potential use of that towards a sludge truck, and so he’s working on procurement of that,” Bennett said. “So anyway, good news there.”

Bennett said the Wolf Creek project is nearing its conclusion. Work on the Ditty Road sewer line is expected to continue for approximately one month.

Mayor Danny Holmes said a plaque has been installed at the new plant noting its completion.
