Warren Murder-Suicide Leaves Three Dead On Greenwood


The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a murder-suicide that left three people dead, including an eight-year-old child, at a residence on Greenwood Drive.

Warren County Sheriff Jackie Matheny called the incident a domestic-related situation. Deputies initially responded to the home for a welfare check before discovering the bodies inside.

“Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene where it was determined that Joseph Nicholas Shelton, Jr. had shot and killed Randi Jean Shelton, and their 8-year-old daughter, before turning the gun on himself,” the press release said.

A deputy arrived at 264 Greenwood Drive at approximately 2:10 Sunday afternoon. to conduct an initial assessment. After requesting assistance from additional officers, law enforcement made entry into the residence.

“Sheriff Matheny asks that the community keep the families affected by this tragedy in their thoughts and prayers,” the press release said. “This heartbreaking situation has impacted multiple families, including children who will forever carry the weight of this loss.”

The press release said the scene took an emotional toll on the personnel who responded to the initial call. First responders are currently working through the details of the event.

“Our prayers are also with the law enforcement officers and first responders who answered this call and are now tasked with working through the painful details of such a devastating event,” the press release said.
