Campers visiting Meadow Park Lake in Crossville could soon see slightly higher rates, as city leaders consider an increase.
Crossville City Council discussed raising camping rates by $10 across the board. City Manager Valerie Hale said the increase comes after the city has recently made improvements in the area.
“Because of the recent improvements out there, we feel like we should be at market rate with the other campsites in the area,” Hale said. “So we are recommending an increase [to] $40 from $30 on the RV with electricity, water, and sewer.”
Hale said rates for RV sites with just electric and water hookups will go from $25 to $35 per night, while tent camping rates would increase from $15 to $25 per night. Council Member Art Gernt and several others said the rates would still be “very cheap” despite the increase.
“That will probably help business,” Gernt said.
The rate increases will be up for approval during next Tuesday’s council meeting.
According to the city’s website, the Meadow Park Lake campground offers camping from April 1 to November 30. The campground has five primitive tent sites, six RV sites with just electric and water hookups, and two RV sites with electric, sewer, and water hookups.
