Clay Residents Can Now Apply For New Federal Assistance

Clay County residents recovering from the winter’s severe storm can now apply for additional federal assistance from FEMA.

President Donald Trump made the additional funding available. The designated areas were previously approved for Public Assistance before this individual aid was announced.

The available aid features multiple options to help individuals and families recover from the disaster’s effects. This includes grants for temporary housing and home repairs. Low-interest loans are also available to cover uninsured property losses.

“Individuals who sustained losses in the designated areas should first file claims with their insurance providers and then apply for assistance by registering online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling 1-800-621-3362 or by using the FEMA App,” the press release said.

Survivors must complete their insurance claims before seeking the federal funds. The application process can be completed through the website, over the phone, or via a mobile application.

“If you use a relay service, such as video relay service (VRS), captioned telephone service or others, provide FEMA the number for that service,” the press release said.

The federal assistance aims to aid in the recovery from the severe winter storm. The affected counties were previously designated for Public Assistance before this individual funding was approved.

“Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-interest loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals and families recover from the effects of the disaster,” the press release said.

The President’s action makes federal funding available to affected individuals in Benton, Carroll, Cheatham, Chester, Clay, Davidson, Decatur, Dickson, Dyer, Fayette, Hardeman, Hardin, Henderson, Hickman, Lewis, Macon, Madison, Maury, McNairy, Montgomery, Perry, Robertson, Rutherford, Shelby, Sumner, Trousdale, Wayne, Williamson and Wilson counties.
