A foster grandmother faces charges in the death of a seven month-old baby outside the Monterey Library earlier this month.
69-year-old Linda Charlene Stevens charged with criminally negligent homicide in the death of the boy. The District Attorney’s office alleges Stevens left the infant child buckled into the backseat of the car on Wednesday April 15 from 8am-4pm as she worked her shift at the library.
Stevens admitted that her plan was to drop the child off at his daycare, but failed to do so.
District Attorney Bryant Dunaway said the case will begin in the general processions court. Stevens was booked into the Putnam County Jail on Friday and is being held on a $50,000 bond ordered by the Judicial Commissioner.
