Tech Offers Free Grad School Applications During May

Tennessee Tech is waiving graduate school application fees for new domestic applicants throughout the month of May.

The waiver announced Monday provides a savings of $35 for students applying to the university in aims of increasing postgraduate education access for prospective students.

“We want students to know that a postgraduate education with Tennessee Tech is more accessible and attainable than they might think,” Dean of Tech’s College of Graduate Studies Julie Baker said. “By waiving application fees for the month of May, we hope to encourage more students to take that important first step and explore how a graduate degree from Tennessee Tech can help them achieve their personal and professional goals.”

The College of Graduate Studies offers more than 60 degree programs and concentrations at the master’s and doctoral levels. These programs are available through both online and in-person formats.

“For anyone who has been considering graduate school, this is an ideal time to apply,” Baker said. “We invite prospective students to take advantage of this opportunity and connect with our faculty and staff to learn how they can further their education right here at Tennessee Tech.”

The press release said the university utilizes a Fast Track program in more than a dozen departments to allow students to earn graduate credits during undergraduate studies. The Master of Professional Studies program also uses seven-week courses to increase the amount of coursework a student can complete in one semester.

Recent changes from the Tennessee Higher Education Commission allow eligible students to use a fifth year of the HOPE Lottery Scholarship for graduate school, according to the university. New programs starting this fall include master’s degrees in child life, agriscience technology, and industrial and systems engineering, as well as a Ph.D. in integrative biology.

The press release said a Master of Social Work degree program is scheduled to begin next year. The application deadline for admission for the fall semester is August 1.
