Scottish Preacher Launches All-Male Ministry In McMinnville

McMinnville Minister Eddie Scott launching a new ministry to empower men to discover their spiritual identity and fulfill their purpose through faith.

Scott said he recognized a significant need for modern men to understand who they are while using religion as they key. Scott said his motivation stems from his own lived experience observing the ripple effect that occurs when a man and his family find salvation.

“I was the last one to surrender to the Lord Jesus,” Scott said. ” And through ministry, he instantly set me free from alcohol and drugs and violence. I was a very violent person. And you know, once you experience something like that, you can’t help but want to share that with other people and let them know that God loves them and God has a purpose for them.”

A native of Glasgow, Scotland, Scott said he grew up without a father figure to mentor him. Scott said he previously led a gang of a couple hundred of young men where his primary objectives were drinking and fighting. Scott said he was living an life with a “sorry outlook” and found religion as a way to traverse an entirely different walk of life.

“They’re not hearing the truth,” Scott said. “Whether they’re in church or not, they might not be receiving the teaching that they need to hear. And it’s not just hearing. You know, the gospel is a hearing and a seeing gospel. You know, you hear the word, but there’s also signs that follow the word. And once young people, especially young people, start seeing the miraculous, they get turned on to God pretty quick.”

Scott said the ministry emphasizes that God has a specific plan for young people that may differ from their current path. Scott said he hopes to see young men make a commitment to their faith as a starting point for change.

“I believe that once you get the man saved, you’ll get the family saved,” Scott said. “And once you get the family saved, it goes on from there. It’s like the stone hitting the water, the ripples, the ripple effect, you know, and basically that’s what it is.

Scott said he provides weekly messages discussing the opposition followers of Jesus may face. Scott said he believes that while there are hard times, faith provides the strength to endure them.

“I know that sounds a bit, you know, off-the-cuff type thing, but Jesus is the only answer,” Scott said. “There are a lot of people who go to church but have never experienced the born-again experience when they have the spirit of God coming into their lives. So I would say to anyone listening, just try Jesus. If you don’t believe in God, then that’s okay. Just ask him, ‘Well, if you’re real, reveal yourself to me.’ It’s as simple as that.”

Scott’s new “Fire Power Ministries” will meet at McDonald’s in McMinnville on the second and last Saturday of each month.
