Jennings Honored For Historic Cookeville Planning Leadership

Cookeville officials honored Judy Jennings for more than two decades of service to the city and the planning commission.

City Administrator James Mills said Jennings has provided a high level of expertise to the community. Jennings served for 22 years after being appointed in 2004, holding roles as the Vice Chairman of the Planning Commission and serving on the Historic Zoning Commission.

“Judy if I remember, she’s one of the last ones that were still on there when I was planner,” Mills said. “I think she’s the third longest serving member in the history of the city. She’s done a really good job and I appreciate Mr. (Jon) Ward doing the resolution to honor her.”

Community Development Director Jon Ward said the resignation of Jennings created a vacancy on the Planning Commission and suggested Bob Faulhaber be appointed to fill that role. Ward said Faulhaber currently serves as the representative for the mayor and has expressed interest in continuing his service on the commission.

“(Bob’s) been a good member, he’s a civil engineer, he has really good perspective on the Planning Commission,” Ward said.

Ward said the appointment for Faulhaber will likely last for five or six months until the next council decides whether to keep him or replace him in January.
