U.S. Marshals arrested a man from Tennessee’s Most Wanted list for the shooting death of a Pickett County man.
The U.S. Marshals Service arrested Jesse Wayne Phillips in Monticello, Kentucky. Phillips accused in the May shooting death of Christopher Yates. The arrest followed a search involving federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. The Pickett County Sheriff’s Office said Phillips was listed as one of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s most wanted fugitives prior to his capture.
Detectives gained information during the week that led officers to the location of Phillips. The U.S. Marshals Service said authorities executed a search warrant after the arrest and seized multiple firearms.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Pickett County sheriff’s deputies originally responded to a reported shooting on May 27 at a residence on Parker Road in Pall Mall. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said deputies found Yates with a gunshot wound before he was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead.
The U.S. Marshals Service said Phillips was taken to the Pulaski County Detention Center where he will await extradition to Pickett County.
