Sparta Aldermen awarded a contract for sludge removal at the water plant during the Thursday meeting.
The project included in the current budget and is a necessary maintenance task for the facility. The board also approved the purchase of a new truck for the water department.
The board also discussed the appointment of a new reserve police officer.
