New Doyle Mayor Prioritizes Community Involvement

Newly elected Mayor of Doyle Timothy Brock prioritizing increased community involvement and the creation of more local events.

Brock previously served as vice mayor for 16 years under the previous administration.

“We have a lot of the same goals,” Brock said, “Where I’d like to see a lot more community events happening in Doyle. That’ll be what I’m focusing on, is getting the community involved back into Doyle.”

Brock said residents expressed a desire for more frequent gatherings during his time campaigning and serving as an alderman. While the town hosts a successful 4th of July celebration, Brock said citizens want similar events scheduled throughout the year rather than just one annual occasion.

“That kind of leads back to the community thing, being together and having events so everybody can get together and become a community again,” Brock said. “That’s just one of the biggest things I heard was we needed to have get togethers as a community and do more stuff.”

Brock said a committee of volunteers has formed to organize these activities independently from the municipal government. The group is currently discussing various options for future programming.

“Because if we’re all involved and together, then everybody’s going to be happy,” Brock said. “That’s kind of what I’m looking for.”

Brock said he recently launched a new website for the town to help residents stay informed about local businesses, churches, and upcoming events. The site remains under construction as more information is added daily.

“I want to thank the two guys that ran with me. They’re two outstanding gentlemen,” Brock said. “They both probably deserved this position just as much if not more than me. I just want to thank them for being gentlemen in the whole process.”

Brock said the two former candidates are also serving alongside him on the town volunteer committee.
