Monterey's Blaylock Looks to Set New Goals As Senior

Monterey Wildcat football player Jack Blaylock has broken records throughout his time playing linebacker.

Blaylock enters his senior year having set the Monterey record for most tackles his junior year. Blaylock said he credits his defensive line and guys up front for breaking the record.

“Overall, the effort on these guys, we might not be real big in size and stuff but the hearts and stuff, all their effort is really good,” Blaylock said. “I hope we can improve, knowledge and stuff, I hope we can get better as a team.”

Blaylock has played linebacker all four seasons. Blaylock said he has never been happier playing for the Wildcats. Blaylock said his play has resonated with opposing teams.

“I’ve had so many people from other schools trying to get me over there, and I can’t leave Monterey,” Blaylock said. “It’s the best.”

Blaylock lives in Cookeville and has seen Cavalier players come to watch him play. Blaylock said he does not want to take anything for granted.

“I just want to see myself become a leader,” Blaylock said. “I want to be one of the guys you look up to.”

Blaylock said he wants to go to college to play linebacker after he has graduated Monterey. Blaylock said he has not decided a college or a major yet.
