Senator Bailey Raises $55,000 To Support UC Food Banks

With the Government shutdown limiting SNAP benefits, Senator Paul Bailey is making an impact by raising an estimated $55,000 for Upper Cumberland Food Banks.

Bailey, along with Representative Ryan Williams and Representative Michael Hale, were able to raise the funds in just one hour. An estimated 20,635 residents across Cumberland, Jackson, Overton, Bledsoe, Putnam, and White Counties will receive major disruptions as the shutdown continues.

Funds raised will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank to supply food banks and food pantries throughout the Upper Cumberland. Bailey said he is committed to seeking a long-term solution, while commending the generous action of local citizens and organizations.

“While we await federal action, Tennesseans have once again proven that compassion,
leadership, and community spirit can make an immediate difference,” Bailey said.
