Cookeville Caregiver National Finalist For Her Commitment

An Upper Cumberland woman one of three finalists for National Caregiver Of The Year, celebrating her long-time commitment to patients and a caring heart.

Caregiver Cherry Seibers said the work and dedication she puts into her clients comes naturally. Seibers said her loyalty to her work stems from life experience.

“I’ve had family members of my own that have needed care,” Seibers said. “And I just treat everybody the way that I expect someone in my home taking care of my family members to do. I’ve seen firsthand what a relief it is to just get five minutes to yourself or know that you can trust someone in your home.”

Seibers said she goes above and beyond with patient needs and tries to go beyond what people need. Seibers said she has cared for one patient for eight years, developing a close relationship with the patient, providing companionship on difficult days, like anniversaries or holidays.

“They lost their son, so I go and visit with them on special occasions,” Seibers said. “On birthdays, Mother and Father’s Day.”

Seibers works for Visiting Angels in Cookeville. She has not missed a shift since starting with the company 11 years ago.

“Whether it’s rain, snow, sleet or sunshine, whether its a holiday,” Seibers said. “I am there and I have not missed.”

Seibers said she performs rewarding work and her clients appreciate the work she does. Seibers said her client says, “Without her, he wouldn’t have any sunshine.”

Seibers named as one of three finalists nationwide for the 2025 Visiting Angels National Caregiver of the Year Award. She was selected from more than 600 locations.
