A Cookeville man arrested following a shooting at the South Willow Avenue Waffle House Tuesday morning.
40-year-old Derrick J. Brown allegedly shot a 21-year-old male in the abdomen after a verbal altercation in the parking lot just after midnight. Investigators say that after shooting the victim, Brown fled on foot.
The victim was transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center and later transferred to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where he remains in critical but stable condition. Brown has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault and Unlawful Carry or Possession of a Weapon.
