Tennessee Tech’s Wilder Signs New Five Year Extension

Tennessee Tech football has locked in head coach Bobby Wilder for the next five seasons, the university announced Wednesday.

Wilder signed a five-year extension through the 2030 season. Wilder arrived at Tech ahead of the 2024 campaign. In just his second year, Tech delivered an 11-1 regular season, the best in school history, while going undefeated in the Ohio Valley Conference and earning its first FCS playoff berth since 2011.

Athletic Director Casey Fox said the extension was a crucial step in sustaining the program’s new momentum as the university prepares to transition into the Southern Conference in 2026.

Wilder’s Golden Eagles not only posted record wins in 2025 but also delivered the program’s first undefeated conference slate in more than six decades.

The extension comes at a pivotal time for Tech athletics. The university is undergoing major facility upgrades, including a new west-side stadium project scheduled to open in 2026, and the athletic department is charting a new competitive path in the SoCon.

Wilder said the investment, both in him and in the program, reflects Tennessee Tech’s broader ambitions.

The Golden Eagles will carry that momentum into the offseason as they begin preparing for their final year in the OVC-Big South partnership before making the leap to the SoCon.

Tennessee Tech will play their first home playoff game in program history Saturday against North Dakota. Kickoff time is set for 12 pm.
