Putnam County has found savings after refinancing the remaining years on the bond used to build the Prescott Schools.
The County Commission permitted Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter last month to look at refinancing the last three years of the bond. Porter said the way the bond worked was that the highest interest rates would be paid in the final years.
Porter said the county was able to find much better interest rates. Porter said after refinancing, the county will save an estimated $170,000.
