14 UC Schools Receive A Grades From State Report Card


A total of 14 Upper Cumberland Schools recorded A grades in the new State Department of Education Report Card for the 24-25 school year.

The department instituted the system to show how schools compare and how investments are paying off statewide. No Upper Cumberland school received an F, meaning an overall score of 1.0-1.4. A total of 14 schools received a D, including four in Warren County, three in Cumberland County, and two among the three Clay County Schools.  

Among high schools, Cookeville and White County ranked highest in the region with 4.8 overall scores, both As. Six high schools finished with C grades, including Clay, Cumberland County, DeKalb, Jackson, Pickett, and Upperman.

Overton County Schools saw three schools tallying Bs, three Cs, and one D. That came at Hilham Elementary, where growth numbers were low.

White County Schools saw five of its schools record As in the state grading report: Bon De Croft, Cassville, Findlay, White County Middle, and White County High School. Three schools recorded B, with Woodland Park tallying a C.

Jackson County Middle School scored a D in this year’s statewide grading. Dodson Branch Elementary scored an A, with Gainesboro Elementary slightly lower at B. Jackson County High School scored an overall score of 3.1, recording a C.

In Fentress County, three schools received a C. Clarkrange High School recorded a B, while York Elementary finished with a D. York Institute finished with a B. Van Buren recorded a B at the high school and a C at the elementary school. In DeKalb County, DeKalb West finished with an A. Northside recorded a B, while the middle and high schools recorded Cs.

Cumberland County saw just two A’s in the system, at Glenn Martin and South Cumberland Elementary. The system recorded three Bs, including Stone Memorial High School.

The Warren County system reported no As, five Bs, and one C. The D grades came at Centertown, Eastside, Hickory Creek, and West.
