Double Springs Utility District says progress has been slow on a new waterline in the Bloomington Springs area.
The estimated $2.9 million project will install lines between Buffalo Valley Road and Bloomington Road, and then down toward Highway 56. Double Springs General Manager Angie Byers said many factors have contributed to the slow progress in pushing the project forward.
“Rural Development, there was a shutdown of the government, so it kind of put that on hold,” Byers said. “Also, acquiring easements because we are gonna be on private property in the Highway 291 area, and that just takes some time.”
Byers said the utility district almost has all the easements needed for the project. Byers said she hopes the project will begin this upcoming spring.
Byers said customers are not really why the utility district is still trying to acquire the remaining easements.
“Everybody is very cooperative,” Byers said. “It just takes time to meet with scheduling.”
Byers said part of the project is replacing an old AC waterline on Highway 291 and Bloomington Road. Byers said she looks forward to getting the project going.
“Customers will probably not see much of a difference in the impact,” Byers said. “As there is growth in the Bloomington Springs area along Highway 56, with this pipe, it may help with future growth.”
Byers said she encourages customers to call if they have questions about the project.
