2025 Putnam Building Permits Total More Than $374M


Cookeville issued more than $259.8 million in building permits for the year 2025, nearly $100 million more than 2024.

The number of permits decreased in Cookeville, a total of 580 building permits. That is down from 685 in 2024. 15 of the permits issued last year were commercial.

Across the county, last year’s building permit totals showing an estimated $374.5 million worth of development.

The county and the cities combined issued a total of 1,135 building permits. Algood issued 39 building permits, which is the same amount as the city issued in 2024. Algood’s permits totaled an estimated $9.25 million in construction.

Baxter issued a total of 79 permits, which is an increase of about 29 permits from the year prior.

The county is currently over Monterey’s Codes Department. The county issued eight permits in Monterey, totaling an estimated $2.2 million in construction.

Putnam County followed suit by issuing a total of 429 permits, totaling an estimated $103.2 million. This is a major increase as the county issued a total of 376 permits, which totaled an estiamated $88.5 million of construction in 2024.
