T-DOT working to address some drainage issues along Highway 111 in White County, just south of Old Kentucky Road.
The highway has been reduced to one lane in both directions. T-DOT Regional Communications Director Rae-Anne Bradley said crews are working on clogged culverts, replacing the existing drainage structure to address the issue.
“The current 30-inch pipe is being replaced with a larger concrete box, and that’s gonna improve drainage and roadway safety,” Bradley said. “So this upgrade is necessary to maintain the integrity of the highway and also prevent any future issues from arising.”
Bradley said the project is scheduled for completion by the end of July. Bradley said one lane will be closed in each direction while the contractor builds temporary median crossovers throughout the project.
“These crossovers are gonna allow us to shift traffic during the different phases of the work as the project progresses,” Bradley said. “So, these lane closures are gonna remain in place throughout the duration of the project, and traffic will navigate across the median as needed.”
Bradley said drivers who commute through this portion of Highway 111 daily should be mindful of the lane closures. Bradley said the speed has been reduced throughout the construction zone.
“Use caution when they are approaching the work zone and driving through the work zone,” Bradley said. “We ask that they obey the posted speed limit and be prepared to stop if necessary. You know, safety is our top priority for both drivers navigating through this area and for our crews.”
