Livingston Utility officials lifted the Boil Water Advisory Saturday morning for Livingston Water customers, but the advisory remains in effect for North Overton Utility District customers.
Water restoration began Friday for North Overton customers as Livingston tanks reached necessary water levels. State officials continue testing on that water. The Boil Advisory means water being used for drinking and eating needs to be brought to a rolling boil for several minutes before use.
The advisory remains in effect until further notice.
Problems began Monday when a major water line ruptured due to cold temperatures. Officials worked to repair that structure and then began having other leak issues across the system caused by the thawing ground and thawing pipes. Officials said they made major progress Friday in containing the leaks and refilling the city’s tanks.
When water levels get low in the tanks, it causes concerns about sediment and other materials that sits in those tanks, prompting the water testing.
Livingston officials had asked major customers to cut any unnecessary water usage Thursday to help with the water tank fill.
Livingston provides water to customers in the city, as well as Overton County and some customers in Pickett County.
