West Paron Road Closed Starting Monday For Repairs

West Paron Road in Overton County will be closed starting Monday while the county’s road department carries out repairs.

Overton County Road Superintendent Tim Kennedy said repairs will consist of replacing the road tile. Kennedy said that will prep the road to be repaved later this spring.

“Over a period of time, they rust out, the bottoms of them do, and you know, I just want them replaced before we put down new asphalt and then have to go back and cut the road and replace the tile afterwards,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy said, weather permitting, he expects the project to be completed by next week. Kennedy said the road will be closed each day starting at 8:30am until the project is finished.

“We are gonna give traffic time to get in and out every morning and have it open back up by hopefully 2:30pm each evening,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy advises drivers to avoid the area during the day next week.

“There will be a couple of detours, and there are a couple of side roads they can take and get around, but there are certain places we are gonna have to shut it down, and they might not be able to get to them. They may have to turn around and go back. So, if they can avoid it, that would be the best.”

Kennedy said replacing the tile and repaving the road will cost the county an estimated $200,000.
