Tennessee Tech’s Human Resources Office completed its move back to its permanent location at Derryberry Hall Wednesday.
Associate Vice President of Human Resources Kevin Vedder said the office was relocated over a year ago due to flooding issues. The move was extended after renovations began on the auditorium above the office. Vedder said operations have been challenging, with Human Resources having to operate from two different locations over the past year.
“We are all excited to be able to get back to just having, you know, kind of our comfort spaces, the area that we are accustomed to, and being able to work and support the employees of Tennessee Tech, so I think everyone is just really happy to be back in their little cubicle or office.”
The Human Resources office was temporarily closed on Wednesday as staff made the move. Vedder said the move is complete and the office will reopen Thursday morning.
“We are getting hooked up, and I am actually talking to you from my office, so our technology communications is working, and our wifi is working, so that is all good,” Vedder said.
Vedder said the university has hired two new staff members for Human Resources since the office was relocated from Derryberry Hall. HR Generalist Maggie Worley said that this is her first time having a dedicated office space.
“It will be nice to be able to settle in and kind of feel more professional, having our own cubes and not be crammed into one space together,” Worley said. “Even though it was nice bonding with everybody, it will definitely present a more professional front for the HR office.”
Vedder applauded his staff for not only working in temporary setups over the past year but for making the move seamless. The Human Resources Office is located in room 146.
Vedder said the university has notified staff and students through its “Tech Times” email system that the office has moved back to its original location.
