9-Year-Old Boy Dies After Fall From Bee Rock In Monterey


A 9-year-old boy died Thursday afternoon after falling from Bee Rock in Monterey.

At 2:26 pm, 911 received a call reporting an individual had fallen from Bee Rock. Emergency personnel responded. Monterey Police officers and Putnam County EMS personnel descended to reach the child.

Crews found the 9-year-old boy and began life-saving measures. Those efforts were unsuccessful.

After some time, responders brought the boy back to the top of Bee Rock. Putnam County EMS then transported the child to the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

Monterey Police said Bee Rock was closed during the active investigation.

Monterey Police expressed condolences to the boy’s family and friends. The department asked the community to keep them in their thoughts and prayers.

Monterey Police thanked Monterey Fire Department, Putnam County EMS, Putnam County Rescue, Putnam County Fire, Putnam County EMA and Putnam County Sheriff’s Office for assistance at the scene. Multiple agencies responded as the investigation continued Thursday afternoon.
