Warren Illness Surge Leads To Extended President’s Day

Warren County Schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, extending the regularly scheduled Presidents’ Day holiday because of illness.

School System officials announced the closure as illness-related absences continue to rise across the district. The additional days will extend the long weekend to allow time for recovery and to help slow the spread of illness in the community.

School leaders have monitored attendance trends for several weeks while staying in contact with local healthcare providers. Healthcare professionals have described the current outbreak as experiencing exponential growth in the community.

District officials said the decision aims to support the health of students, staff, and families. The extension is intended to reduce contact and limit further transmission during the outbreak.

The announcement was made in advance to give families time to plan for the additional days at home. Officials encouraged families to use the time to rest, recover, and avoid unnecessary contact with others.

Warren County Schools will resume classes following the extended break. School leaders thanked families for their continued partnership in supporting the health of schools and the broader community.
