Monterey Repairs Waterline Break Along Highway 164

Monterey officials report repairs completed Monday on the waterline break that occurred Sunday morning along Highway 164 just north of the city limits.

According to Monterey’s Water Distribution Department, the break occurred around 6:15am. Officials say the line was actually split due to the pipe vibrating on top of an underground rock.

The waterline has since been repaired after crews installed an estimated 19-foot pipe to repair the break. Officials said the repair took several hours to complete, and many Monterey Water and East Fork Utility District customers were without water throughout the repair.

Officials collected test samples to send off before the boil notice could be lifted. According to city officials, those samples came back with good results, and the boil notice was lifted Monday evening.
